After a fussy baby last week and a sleepless night of screaming Friday, we took him to the doctor on Saturday afraid of his second ear infection in three weeks. Luckily, it was not his ears. Unluckily, it was hand, foot, mouth disease. The terrible virus that spreads from child to child leaving a week-long recovery in its wake.
Emery had this as a baby and it was pretty miserable. Symptoms include high fevers for several days, skin rashes all over body and sores in throat and mouth. Sound bad? Trust me, it is. The jury is still out if I have it for sure or not. Since it is NOT common in adults, of course, I would mimic their symptoms the SAME time both of them have this. Boo.
Poor baby has the rash in her mouth! |
Monday, I came down with the swollen throat and high fever. I've decided there is nothing worse than having to try to comfort two sick babies when all you want is someone to comfort you.
We seem to be almost in the clear now. With fevers gone, we're out of the contagion zone and ready to begin Chlorox-ing the house tomorrow!
As a side note, isn't he the cutest, serious squash eater?
